Chris Pureka is an indie folk singer/songwriter and guitarist who built a reputation around Northampton, Massachusetts in the 1990s as a regular performer at coffee houses and open mic nights. After releasing a self-titled EP in 2001, she embarked on a three-month-long national tour with poet Alix Olson, gaining exposure to different acoustic music scenes and collecting a widespread fan base along the way. Upon returning home, Pureka began work on her debut full-length effort, Driving North, which earned critical acclaim up on its release in 2004. Now recognized as a premiere folk songwriter and an outstanding voice for the LGBT community, Pureka continues to perform and release new music such as her 2010 studio album, How I Learned To See In the Dark.
