Blick Bassy is a soul singer from Cameroon who blends the regional music of West and Central Africa with soul, jazz and bossa nova. Raised with 20 brothers and sisters, Bassy spent his childhood focused on music and formed his first band Jazz Crew at age 17. He got his first taste of international attention with his band Macase, whose two studio album, 1999's Etam and 2003's Doulou, earned him accolades such as the RFI Prize for Wold Music. Bassy relocated to Paris in 2005 and began collaborating with like-minded artists like Manu Dibango and Cheikh Tidiane Seck. He signed with the World Connection label and released his debut solo album, Léman, in 2009. Staying true to his roots and signature blend of African melodies and jazz rhythms, Bassy expanded his following with each subsequent record, including his 2015 effort, Hongo Calling.
