Despite hailing from Pasadena, California, Gerardo Ortiz has managed to define himself as one of the more capable singer/songwriters of the traditionally Mexican style of Norteño music. Ortiz's debut album, Ni Hoy Ni Mañana, was nominated for best Best Norteño Album at the 2010 Grammy Awards and in 2013 he racked up another Grammy nomination for Best Regional Mexican Music Album for his 2013 album El Primer Ministro.
