Pretty as a picture, Bamberg's Altes Rathaus is enclosed by mountains and is nestled in the River Regnitz on an artificial island where two bridges come together. This medieval structure with its intricate frescoed façade is an eye-catcher. Originally a Gothic form, it has featured Baroque and Rococo influences since the 17th Century. The old town hall is also home to the Sammlung Ludwig a collection of porcelain artifacts.
