The fountain with the four bronze statues of the Najadi by Mario Rutelli stands in the center of the beautiful Piazza della Repubblica, bordered by the Church of Santa Maria degli Angeli and Diocletian's Baths. On the other side, there are buildings that exemplify various Roman architectural styles. Called Piazza della Repubblica after World War II, its former name is Piazza del Esedra, referring to the central exedra of the Baths. The square is a meeting point for official demonstrations and for receiving visiting delegations from abroad.
