Built in the 18th Century the Wicklow Gaol is a historic prison that you should visit to realize the way of life of the prisoners in earlier times. The prison was shut down in the 20th Century but was soon used for the prisoners of war during the Irish War of Independence and the Irish Civil War. Due to its status as being one of the world's most haunted places it was aired on the TV series Ghost Hunters International. Today it functions as museum retelling the stories of prisoners in the earlier centuries.
