Circus Maximus, located in the heart of ancient Rome, is an iconic archaeological site that once served as the largest and most prestigious chariot racing stadium in the Roman Empire. The last races held here were in the year 549. Another popular sport was marine battling, in which the arena was filled with water and fights between light boats took place. Although Circus Maximus fell into disuse following the decline of the Roman Empire, its ruins continue to stand as a testament to Rome's rich history and cultural legacy. Today, visitors to the site can explore the remnants of the ancient stadium.
