Settled on the banks of the Isle River, the capital of the Périgord region is a historic gem, with two majestic old towns. While the origins of the city can be traced back to the ancient times, its history as Périgueux began somewhere around the 12th Century. The UNESCO listed Cathedral of Saint Front is the point of pride for the city, while the Perigord Museum will help visitors learn about it's fascinating history. The Vesunna Gallo-Roman Museum, showcasing artifacts from the Périgueux's Roman history is also not to be missed.
