The county seat of South Dakota's Kingsbury County, De Smet is a city that features a picturesque landscape defined by prairies. The home of Laura Ingalls Wilder, which also became the setting for her famous Little House books, De Smet proudly carries on her legacy through attractions such as the Laura Ingalls Wilder Historic Homes, the Ingalls Homestead, De Smet Cemetery, and the De Smet School. The town also hosts an annual pageant to honor the author. Other attractions include Silver Lake, De Smet Depot Museum, and Kingsbury County Country Club.
