Nürnberger Burgtheater

The main interest of this small theater company (founded in 1979) is cabaret, but their annual program of events also incorporates fringe, comedy, alternative music and sometimes even poetry readings. The Burgtheater members do not put on performances themselves, they merely arrange those that are to take place in their venue. Such was the scale of popularity when the theater first opened that it could only reside in its original premises in the historic Weißgerbergasse for two years (1982-1984). Since 1984, the two-week festival Nuremberg Cabaret Days ( Nürnberger Kabarett-Tage) has been held here. Today, it is considered one of the most renowned events of its kind in Germany. The festival's highlight is the presentation of the coveted German Cabaret Prize. Nürnberger Burgtheater is definitely a haven for theater and cabaret aficionados.
