Initially built as a private residence of scarce architectural interest, in 1949 it became a cinema, inaugurated with a Bette Davis film. Later, in 1989, the cinema closed, and up until 1994, it was a nightclub. Currently, thanks to funding provided by Caja Duero, an important savings bank, many cultural events take place here (cinema, conferences, conventions, concerts, art exhibitions, and more). Sala Capitol is just a few feet away from Plaza Mayor, and the timetable depends on the cultural event being held.
