The imposing circular facade that closes in on the massive grandstands of the Estadio Nacional, has become a Peruvian landmark of sportsman spirit. With a massive capacity of 45,000, it was inaugurated in the year 1952 for the 1953 South American Championship. It underwent refurbishment in the year 2010 and has played host to several international and South American games, which earned it the status of Peru's national stadium. FIFA'S U-17 World Championship and FIFA Qualifiers were some of the major events held here in 2005 and 2010 respectively. Musical legends like Michael Jackson, Carlos Santana, Paul McCartney, etc have graced the stage of this prestigious stadium with their international concert tours.
