The magnificent Rococo Theater, with its neoclassical elements and evocative design, is one of Schwetzingen Palace's crowning glories. Designed by Nicolas de Pigage, the theater opened its doors in 1753. Today, it is best known as one of the continent's oldest surviving theaters with galleries. The beautiful gallery skirts the horseshoe-shaped theater and the seating slopes gently away from the stage, allowing clear views and excellent acoustics. This 18th-century antiquity continues to be used as a theater even today, and is also the main venue of the Schwetzinger Festspiele. The splendid theater is a must-visit attraction to experience the thrill of a live performance in its historic atmosphere.
