Once the renowned home of composer Richard Wagner, the university town of Bayreuth is a splendid city known for academia, culture and stunning architecture. At the center of its cultural heart lies the beautiful Baroque landmark and UNESCO-designated heritage site, the Margravial Opera House, which has been regarded as the 'masterpiece of Baroque theater architecture'. Given its longtime tryst with opera, it is no surprise that this town hosts the Bayreuth Festival every year. Bayreuth's other treasured landmarks include the Eremitage and the 18th-century New Palace. Visitors to the town must also experience Bayreuth's famed beer culture, represented in the various craft breweries that brew more than a 1000 local beers.
