La Citadelle is an imposing structure which was built for the defense of the city in the later half of the mid 17th Century. In recent years, the Citadelle has been demilitarized and turned into a recreational venue. The structure now draws a number of tourists since it is a heritage site recognized in UNESCO's list of world heritage sites. It also hosts the annual Main Square Festival which takes place every July.
