Kloster Bentlage

Kloster Bentlage is nestled by the river banks of Ems. Built in 1437, this Gothic abbey has elements of both Baroque and classical style of architecture. It was used as a castle in the 19th Century, post which the local municipality took control of the monument. It is an important cultural building as it houses a museum with two relic gardens from the Middle Ages and other religious artifacts on display. Moreover, the former monastery also displays contemporary artworks by reputed German and international artists.
