TOURIST ATTRACTIONS & SIGHTSEEING, ENTERTAINMENT VENUES
Located in the picturesque town of Strorkow, the medieval namesake castle is an iconic landmark of this town. It is said to have replaced a former marsh castle and was built by Conrad, The Great. Over a period of time, the castle saw several owners until it was badly damaged in 1627, during the Thirty Years' War. Quickly rebuilt adhering to Renaissance architecture, yet again, the castle was damaged in the fire of 1775. Finally in 1901, the castle was purchased by famous architect Johann Emil Schaudt who restored the structure using historic-Romanesque influences. The castle also served as Hitler Youth Center during 1934-1945. In 1978, the castle fell to ruins after yet another fire. Completely rebuilt in 2009, the castle now hosts exhibitions about nature and environment. Tall, red-bricked walls and buildings made of similar material make up most of the structure. There is a courtyard like space in the middle which is ideal for hosting fair, concerts and festivals during special occasions.
