The Newstead Abbey was an Augustinian priory built by Henry II in 1170 who allowed a religious order to live here. Henry VIII sent this order away and gifted the house to the ancestors of Lord Byron in the 15th Century. Till date, this house owes its claim to fame by sheer virtue of being the boyhood house of Britain's most loved poet. Be dazzled by the sight of the tapestries, dark wood furniture and artifacts.
