Algade 40, Aalborg, 9000
This immaculate church with its whitewashed walls, symmetric motifs and ornate silvery spire forms an attractive centerpiece in Aalborg's Old Square. Constructed at the end of the 14th century, the Budolfi Church boasts a classic Gothic architectural style that was brought to life with large yellow bricks, a common building material in Denmark at the time. The same bricks were also used to build the church's nave, aisles, armories, and turret rooms. The church underwent several renovations and additions after its original construction, once in 1899, and again in 1942, when it gained a vestry and a chapel building. Christened after a patron saint from England by the name of St Botolph, the Budolfi Church functions as a cathedral church for the Lutheran Diocese of Aalborg.
