Muskogee's heritage dates back centuries to the heyday of the native people who inhabited the forests and streams of the region. When the Europeans arrived to capitalize on the fur trade, the city of Muskogee was born. Visitors now flock here for the unique adventure & sports options, vivid natural landscapes and mostly the ancient Indian culture which still permeates through despite modernization. This city grabbed national headlines in 2008 when the townsfolk overwhelmingly voted for the dashing 19 year old John Tyler Hammons as their mayor.
