Settled for the first time in 1834–1835 by settlers Lewis Lemon, Germanicus Kent and Thatcher Blake, the city of Rockford enjoys its location upon the serene waters of the Rock River. Also known as the 'City of Forests' for its lush foliage, this sleepy town was transformed during the Industrial Revolution, and traces are still visible through the magnificent theaters and movie palaces built during the 1920's. Rockford boasts an eclectic nightlife peppered with scores of sidewalk cafes, traditional bars, multi-cuisine eateries and discotheques so come on over!
