A sprawling facility flanked by one of Victoria's main thoroughfares, the Save-On-Foods Memorial Arena is the biggest arena in the province outside of Vancouver. The arena was constructed on the site of the erstwhile Memorial Arena, also known as the 'Barn on Blanshard', and rolled out to the public in 2005 with a dramatic Rod Stewart concert. Featuring a partially rust-colored facade with the other half covered in glass windows, this top notch arena is majorly used for the the sport of ice hockey, and is the home ground of the Victoria Royals team. When it's not hosting cheering hockey crowds, it plays host to a plethora of big-ticket concerts and other local sports events such as figure skating and curling. Equipped with state-of-the-art amenities and a capacity of over 7000, the Save-On-Foods Memorial Arena has previously hosted famous bands and artists like Black Eyed Peas, Def Leppard, Bob Dylan, Kiss, David Copperfield, and Sir Elton John.
