Aside from Springfield, Pittsfield is the second largest city in Western Massachusetts. The town was settled in 1752 and grew into an area of great economic importance during the 19th Century thanks to the nearest rivers. While industry isn't as big here as it once was, most visitors to Pittsfield come for cultural events, like baseball games, concerts, festivals and arts and crafts fairs.
