Chandler

A quiet little suburban town, Chandler was founded on the initiative of Dr. Alexander John Chandler, who, in 1891 built a ranch to study irrigation engineering. He sought to build a town where his ranch lay, a sprawling 18,000 acres, and his efforts saw the construction of the town center in 1913. Though the town may not have a rich history, it has earned notoriety after the Chandler Roundup incident of 1997, a joint initiative of the local law enforcement and federal agencies that saw racial profiling and led to large-scale 'roundups' of what were thought to be 'illegal immigrants'. Chandler has little to offer a tourist, save for the Ostrich Festival, a few cultural centers and museums. Visit the website to know more.
