This small city in Kentucky is big on experiences. Harlan, which is the seat of the eponymous county, was established in 1796 and got its first post office in 1828. A city with an intriguing past of coal mining strikes and the resulting violence, Harlan has also earned the moniker "Bloody Harlan" and has been the subject of documentaries. A walk through the Downtown allows you to explore the town's bygone era through the old buildings that flank the streets.
