Schloss ob Ellwangen is a magnificent castle in Ellwangen. Located on a hilltop near the city center of Ellwangen, this castle boasts of picturesque views of the city. Though the original castle was built in the 13th Century and boasted medieval architecture, the castle was majorly damaged in a fire during the 18th Century and was rebuilt in its present Baroque form. Once a residence to the royal families of the region, the castle is now owned by the government and has many offices, while a part of the castle has been converted into a history museum. The throne room of the castle popularly showcases several music concerts and cultural events.
