With origins that can be traced back to the 18th Century, Villa Bellini is one of the city's oldest gardens. Although originally a private garden, Villa Bellini was transformed into the city's largest public park in the 1800s. The park boasts a varied landscape that is accentuated by fountains and elaborate statues. While the park's two hills offer splendid views over Catania, the showpiece of Villa Bellini is a marvelous clock of evergreen saplings. Near the clock is a date display that is updated daily and is fashioned from flowers and shrubs. Home to a plethora of flowering plants, including a few exotic varieties as well, Villa Bellini is a riot a colors in spring. Utterly beautiful and enchanting, Villa Bellini is a great place to head to for a leisurely stroll amidst blooming flowers and across grassy lawns.
