The historic Altes Hallenbad Heidelberg dates back to 1901. Constructed by German architect Franz Sales Kuh, the structure was a fine example of art-nouveau architecture. The building featured salt and carbonic indoor bath for locals. In 1978, the building was declared as a protected monument. However, in 1981, the building had to be closed due to safety reasons. Renovated and restored in 2003, the building was once again the talk of the town housing the city's famous bars, restaurants, shopping arcade and a new pool. Cultural events and concerts also take place here.
