Offering a wonderful glimpse into the local history and culture, the Volendam Museum showcases traditional costumes, jewelry, paintings, and sculptures. Most notable among its collections, however, is the Cigar Band House. This facility is made up of 11 million cigar bands in the form of mosaics and paintings. Windmills, buildings, and Dutch symbols are spread across the walls, designed from brightly colored bands. The vibrant room is indeed a sight to behold. There are various exhibitions about the local traditions, literature, and music held from time to time.
