TOURIST ATTRACTIONS & SIGHTSEEING, PRACTICAL INFORMATION
A prehistoric settlement, Muri municipality was established in the year 1816 when the municipalities of Wey, Hasli, Egg and Langdorf were merged. Archaeological excavations conducted here suggest that the site was occupied since the Bronze and Neolithic Ages. Muri is found at the base of the scenic Lindenberg mountain range and is home to several heritage attractions. Muri Abbey, a monastery of the Benedictine order, is included in the list of Swiss heritage sites of national significance. The monastery now contains a museum exhibiting rare artifacts associated with the priory. Hasli's granary and the Leontiusbrunnen fountain are other attractions worth a visit.
