Saint Martin of Tours was a former Bishop of the city. The Basilica of Saint Martin of Tours is constructed in Tours on his tomb. In the medieval era, there was a former church that was completely destroyed during the French Revolution. The present structure was constructed in 1886 to replace the same. The architecture consists of a neo-Byzantine style designed by renowned architect Victor Laloux. Today, it is a major tourist destination in the area.
