Providing rare insights into the world of rural Switzerland over the last few decades, Ballenberg Open Air Museum is stretched out between the villages of Brienz and the scenic Meiringen. With more than 100 ancient items on displays, the museum offers a one of a kind experience of reliving the ancient rural days. It started in 1978 with an aim of preserving the rich legacy of the village and today houses various agricultural machines and old village homes. A truly hands-on journey is guaranteed while walking through the museum and the rare plant species and over 250 domestic farm animals add to its charm.
