Iolanta is a Russian language opera composed by Pytor Tchaikovsky. With a libretto penned by Modest Tchaikovsky, the one-act piece is a touching and happily-ever-after story of blind princess Iolanta. Adapted from a Danish tale titled Kong Renés Datter, the opera narrates a story of love, isolation, deception and tragedy. The love-heals-all operatic piece first opened at the Mariinsky Theater in 1892.
