Each fall, the National Mall transforms into a reading wonderland and throngs of people join in the bookish merriment. Running since 2001, the festival is sponsored by the Library of Congress and draws an impressive array of authors. Throughout the day, events include book signings, presentations, and readings. Other highlights include the Pavilion of the States, where librarians from across the country share their local literary traditions, and the children's activities at the Let's Read America pavilion.
