Dom Kennedy is a Los Angeles-based rapper who remembers dreaming of making it in hip-hop since he was twelve years old. Without the backing of rap moguls or big name producers, he worked his way through the Southern California ranks the old-fashioned way: releasing mix-tapes and performing to anyone who would listen. His career began to gain steam with the release of 25th Hour in 2008, which garnered acclaim from Def Jam rapper Rick Ross. Kennedy's flow is smooth and deliberate, with rhymes about his rise in the rap world and tales of his home neighborhood of Leimert Park. Production on his tracks is equally laid-back in nature, pulling inspiration from West Coast hip-hop of the past twenty or so years.
