Those with a passion for dancing must visit the districts of Helvetiaplatz, Kanonengasse and Zeughausareal in June each year. Sensuous Latino moves are what you will swing your hips to, along with gorgeous traditional dancers in exotic costumes. Since its inception in 1995, the festival gathers together more than 50,000 guests annually, who gyrate to Latin, Spanish, Brazilian and Caribbean beats belted out by famous groups like Compay Segundo, Los Van Van and Caridad Hierrezuelo. Workshops for the rhythmically challenged, impromptu jam sessions for the self-proclaimed pros, art exhibitions and a cigar lounge for the la-di-dah crowd and tons of culture food—there’s something for all sorts.
