Emancipator is the moniker of downtempo trip-hop producer, Douglas Appling, who has been crafting his chilled-out electronic beats since 2009. When your first live show is opening for Bonobo, and you've shared a bill with Sound Tribe Sector 9 and Bassnectar within your first year performing, you better have the skills to back it all up. Luckily, Appling's music matches his early success, and his classically-infused mix of warm keyboards and blissful beats has struck a chord with fans of minimal but experimentally-tinged electronic music. He also dabbles in mashups with his Emancipator project, releasing a popular mix of Sigur Ros and Mobb Deep in 2009.
