Roberta Flack

Virginia-based singer-songwriter Roberta Flack is one of the most stand-out soul singers in American history. Perhaps known best for her song "Killing Me Softly With His Song," which was famously covered by Lauryn Hill while she was with The Fugees. Flack has won numerous Grammy Awards since the 1970s, and continues to receive accolades for her work to this day. Flack has probably influenced modern R&B in more ways than she gets credit for, though Flack's following remains strong and she will go down in history as one of the best artists of all time.
