The English hip-hop trio Sound of Rum doesn't care where it plays, just as long as it plays. Whether its busking in some subway station, performing at a house party or opening up for a prominent act at an established music hall, Sound of Rum only wants its music to be heard. Founded in 2008, the group has been gigging all over the UK, attempting to create a name for itself with its unique take on the hip-hop and rap genres. With a guitarist adding layers of tonality over the drummer's syncopated beats and vocalist Kate Tempist's flowing and poignant rhymes, Sound of Rum might not be reinventing the hip-hop genre, but it certainly is pushing it in interesting directions.
