Named after an evil strip of land within the fantasy world of J. R. R. Tolkien's Lord of the Rings, the heavy metal band Gorgoroth emerged out of Norway in 1992 with an intense brand of black metal. Since the release of its debut album Pentagram, in 1994, the band has established its sound with sludgy guitar riffs and indiscernible lyrics, often surrounding themes of violence and death. Covered head to toe in leather and donning black and white face paint, the five members of Gorgoroth adopted monikers to fully embrace their stage personalities and Satanist views. As the only remaining founding member of Gorgoroth, Inferus serves as the creative and ideological leader of the band.
