Brooklyn's Dub Trio is a cross-genre band that uses elements of rock, punk, heavy metal and the original dub style of King Tubby. With a complicated setup of pedal boards, samplers, keyboards and synthesizers, Dub Trio has mastered looping and delaying effects along with heavy metal licks and punk-rock guitar riffs. Drummer Joe Tomino, guitarist and bassist Stu Brooks and guitarist and keyboardist Dave Holmes often take it upon themselves to loop and dub each other during improvisation sections music that, with the help of King Tubby inspired beats, can sometimes take on reggae flavors. From the band's 2004 debut, Exploring the Dangers Of, to its refined 2011 effort titled IV, Dub Trio makes an art out of cutting audio and creating new structures of composition.
