The Force M.D.s, an American R&B vocal group formed in 1981 in Staten Island, New York, gained recognition for their fusion of doo-wop harmonies with hip-hop beats. Originally named The L.D.s and later becoming the Force MCs, they eventually settled on Force MDs, which represented Musical Diversity. Comprising brothers Stevie D., Antoine "T.C.D.," Rodney "Khalil" Lundy, and their uncle Jessie Lee Daniels, the group was later joined by friends Trisco Pearson and Charles "Mercury" Nelson. They signed with Tommy Boy Records in 1984, evolving into a quiet storm/contemporary R&B group with hits like "Tears" from their debut album, Love Letters.
