Best known for his hit songs from the 1960s, Johnny Rivers is a rock and roll singer/songwriter and guitarist from New York City. He first earned fame while living in Los Angeles with the song "Secret Agent Man, which made him a fixture at the famed Whisky a Go Go club on Sunset Blvd, where he recorded a number of live hits including "Mabyellene," "Mountain of Love" and "Midnight Special." In addition to his original compositions, Rivers made several folk, blues and old-time rock and roll covers that lent his music an air of retro, blue-eyed soul. Though his mainstream popularity peaked in the late 1960s with the 1968 album Realization, he continued to release a slew of records into the 1970s, as well as the 1980s and 1990s, and continues to collaborate with other renowned artists such as Eric Clapton, Tom Petty and Paul McCartney.
