Louis Lortie is a French-Canadian pianist who is renowned for both his original compositions and interpretations of Ravel, Chopin and Beethoven. An internationally recognized soloist, he made his debut with the Montreal Symphony Orchestra at the age of 13, and only three years later, debuted with the Toronto Symphony Orchestra. Soon after, he was invited to perform his now historic tour of China and Japan. For his contributions to classical music, Lortie was named an Officer of the Order of Canada, and was made a Knight of the National Order of Quebec. In addition to his own work, he continues to feed the survival of symphonic music as an instructor at the piano institute at Imola in Italy.
