Michael Kaeshammer is a German-born, Canadian pianist and composer who specializes in playing in the boogie-woogie style. Born in Offenburg, Germany, Kaeshammer began playing piano at age seven, and by the age of 13, he discovered and fell in love with the stride piano playing style of the boogie-woogie genre. Though he became somewhat of a sensation in his native Germany--playing clubs, concerts and festivals--his family moved to the west coast of Canada in 1996. The change of location didn't deter Kaeshammer from playing, however, and he was soon playing concerts all over North America. After releasing his debut album, Blue Keys, in 1996, Kaeshammer solidified his standing as one of his generation's premier boogie-woogie pianists.
