Shannon Stephens is a singer/songwriter based in Seattle who began her career as the vocalist of the folk-rock band Marzuki. After Stephens met musician Sufan Stevens during their college years, they formed Marzuki with fellow students Matt Haseltine and Jamie Kempkers. Five years and two albums later, Marzuki disbanded, though some members temporarily came together again to help Stephens release her self-titled debut album in 1999. Following a hiatus from music that was prompted by Stephens becoming jaded by the business side of music, she released her second album Breadwinner, a decade later in 2009. The album reintroduced Stephen's gentle brand of folk-rock to the music scene. Stephen's single "Cold November," a rainy-day collaboration with DM Stith, was temporarily released in late 2011 in support of her third album, which was released in 2012.
