Sizzla Kalonji, who is known simply as Sizzla, is a reggae musician from Kingston, Jamaica. After experiencing the 1980s dancehall explosion, as well as the violent, drug-laced lifestyle that went with it, he adopted the Rastafarian faith in the mid-1990s and began writing songs as a vehicle to spread his message. Sizzla released his debut album Burning Up, with RAS Records in 1995 and has since built an impressive catalog of albums with multiple full-length records a year. One of the most commercially and critically successful artists of the contemporary reggae scene, he released his 51st album, The Messiah, with VP Records in 2013.
