In a vie to interject some aspect of earnestness into the genre, Jamaican born singer Anthony B makes music that has a clearly defined reggae backbone, but with fervent and often joyous vocals thrown on top. This pairing of high-energy singing and humdrum instrumentals meshes fairly well and has led several people to proclaim Anthony B as a stylistic innovator.
