Slaughter & The Dogs is an English punk rock band that emerged out of Manchester's burgeoning punk scene of the late 1970s. After collecting a rabid fan base as the opener of The Sex Pistols' now legendary gig at Manchester Lesser Free Trade Hall in 1976, the band solidified its status as a pioneer of the punk movement with its 1977 debut single, "Cranked Up Really High," which is widely considered to be one of the most influential punk tracks of all time. Slaughter & the Dogs soon became one of the first UK punk bands to sign with a major label when it was contracted by Decca Records, who released its debut album, Do It Dog Style, in 1978. As punk rock became more commercialized into the 1980s, the band's core fan base dispersed and the Dogs broke up in 1981. Founder and vocalist Wayne Barrett reunited the band in 1996, and Slaughter & The Dogs released its fourth studio album, Beware Of..., in 2001.
