The Outcasts is a UK punk rock band formed in 1977. The band gained recognition by playing shows with original material and covers of popular punk bands like The Clash and The Ramones. After being picked up by a local label and gaining steady success, the band was severely damaged by the sudden death of founding member and guitarist Colin Cowan in a car accident. The Outcasts performed what was planned to be a goodbye performance following Cowan's funeral, but the positive reception inspired the remaining members to continue on the project. The band has since seen numerous periods of radio silence only to re-emerge every so often.
